Getting Started

Do I need to install any apps to use WisePen?

No. WisePen works as a standalone device.

Do I need Wi-Fi to use the WisePen?

Some features require Wi-Fi, while others work without an internet connection.

You will need Wi-Fi for:

Initial device setup and activation after purchase
• AI features such as AI Chat and Scan & Solve
• Online text translation (55 languages)
• Software updates

You do not need Wi-Fi for:

• Basic text scanning and reading
• Built-in dictionary lookups
• Offline translations (supported languages)

This means the device can still be used in many situations where internet access is limited.

How do I turn on the WisePen?

To turn on the device:

  1. Press and hold the power button for about 3 seconds.
  2. The screen will light up and the system will start.

When the device starts, you will see the home screen where you can select the different features.

How long does it take to set up the device?

The first setup normally takes only a few minutes.

During the setup process, you may be asked to:

• Connect to a Wi-Fi network
• Select your language
• Adjust device preferences

Once setup is complete, the device will be ready to use.

Do I need to make any additional purchases to use WisePen features?

After the first year, continued use of AI Chat may require a membership subscription if you wish to keep using that feature.

All other core features of the WisePen continue to work normally without any additional purchase.

Is the WisePen difficult to learn to use?

Do I need a smartphone or computer to use the WisePen?

No. The WisePen is designed to work as a fully independent device. You can scan text, listen to it being read aloud, translate languages, use the dictionary, and access most features directly on the device itself using the touchscreen interface.

This means you do not need a smartphone, tablet, or computer to use the main functions of the WisePen.

However, the WisePen does have a feature that allows you to transfer scanned text to another device in real time. This can be useful for capturing notes or working with digital documents.

With this feature, scanned text can be sent to:

• A computer
• A smartphone
• A tablet

This allows users to capture text from books, worksheets, or printed materials and edit or save it digitally.

Scanning & Reading Feature

How does the WisePen scan text?

WisePen uses a built-in optical scanner to recognise printed text.

When you drag the scanning tip across a line of text, the device captures the image and converts it into digital text. The system can then read the text aloud, translate it, or show a definition.

How do I scan text correctly with the WisePen?

To scan text:

  1. Hold the pen at approximately a 75° angle to the page.
  2. Place the scanning tip at the beginning of the line.
  3. Slowly drag the pen across the text.

The device will recognise the text and read it aloud or display it on the screen.

Does the pen read from screens (e.g., laptop, iPad) as well as paper?

WisePen is primarily designed to scan printed text from books, worksheets, documents, and other paper materials.

While it can scan text displayed on a computer, tablet, or phone screen, the accuracy may vary. Factors such as screen brightness, glare, resolution, and refresh rate can affect performance. For text scanning, it is recommended to scan digital screens slower than with printed material for better success.

For best results when working with digital content, we recommend using the built-in camera feature to take a photo of the screen. This method generally provides clearer and more accurate results than direct screen scanning.

Can WisePen scan from right-to-left?

Yes. The device supports both left-to-right and right-to-left scanning directions.

You can also enable Left-Handed Mode in the settings if needed.

What types of printed materials can the WisePen scan?

The WisePen can scan most types of printed text, including:

For best results, the text should be clearly printed on a flat surface.

What happens if I scan the same line twice?

Can I scan text while wearing headphones?

The WisePen supports Bluetooth connectivity, which means you can connect it to devices that have Bluetooth capability. This includes:

When headphones are connected, the scanned text will be read through the headphones instead of the device’s built-in speaker.

Can WisePen translate text instantly?

The translated text will appear on the device screen and can also be read aloud in the selected language, helping users understand the meaning and pronunciation.

How many languages are available for text translation?

WisePen supports 55 languages for online text translation and 19 languages for offline translation.

Is there a limit to using the AI Chat feature?

Yes. AI features operate using AI usage credits.

When the device is first activated, users receive 200 AI credits per month for the first year.

Important details:

  • Credits reset each month
  • Unused credits do not roll over
  • After the first year, continued AI use may require a membership subscription
How do I purchase additional AI Chat usage?

Additional AI Chat usage can be purchased through the device.
